Excel Housing Solutions are seeking a new team member (30hrs) to provide support to clients across the South Ribble area. The role will mainly be remote working from home and all equipment will be provided, however, the role also requires the team member to undertake home visits throughout South Ribble and surrounding areas. All mileage incurred for business purposes can be reclaimed at 33p per mile.
It is desirable (not essential) that applicants have a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Job entails providing support to clients that are referred via South Ribble Housing Options Team, to prevent homelessness and tenancy failure. The role will be entirely remote working from your home location and equipment will be provided by Excel Housing Solutions. The successful candidate will be organised, flexible and be able to handle difficult situations due to the nature of our clients. All offers of employment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and two references. The post is subject to continuous funding.

Purpose of job: To work with people who have experienced homelessness to move into settled accommodation and successful maintain a home. To use a strength based approach to support people who are experiencing difficulties with sustaining / maintaining their accommodation to overcome any barriers and support change.
Hours: Hours can be flexible and worked around childcare / family commitments.

Key roles & responsibilities:
To engage with people who need support in a strength based way, offering a relationship that delivers emotional support and challenge.
To support people to generate options for change and ensure they are aware of the consequences of their choices.
To ensure that people are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities of being a tenant.
To assist people to set up their tenancies by providing support with obtaining grants for furniture, household equipment etc.
To support the sharing of information and the resolution of conflicts between landlords and their tenants in order to prevent homelessness.
To undertake a safety plan that considers risks to the individual, their family and to the worker and wider community.
To undertake strengths based assessment, liaising with other agencies to gather information for a holistic assessment, leading to a co-produced action plan based on SMART principles.
To encourage and motivate people to complete actions they have identified in their action plan, exploring any underlying barriers to success
To review individual action plans within appropriate time scales.
To provide information, advocacy and practical support on a range of issues that impact on someone’s ability to maintain their accommodation successfully
To assist with claiming benefits and maximising income.
To promote financial literacy using an individually tailored approach.
Assist people to settle into a new location and navigate their way around the local community, including local shopping areas and any community groups that may be of benefit to the client etc.
To help people build resilience to enable them to gain and maintain independence. Helping with referral to other services and engagement as required.
To maintain records and monitoring information in line with policy and procedures.
To lone work with people in their own homes or other venues in line with lone working procedures.
To attend multi agency meetings as required and to work collaboratively with Local Authorities and Housing Associations.
To ensure that people are protected through knowledge of adult and child safeguarding procedures.
To provide the service in an anti-discriminatory manner in accordance with Excel Housing Solutions Equality and Diversity policy.
Key exists to respond to the need of individuals and some of the tasks are therefore unpredictable. It is therefore expected that the Support Worker will work in a flexible way when required, undertaking tasks that are not specifically covered in this job description. Ensuring that a customer focused approach is applied at all times.
To always work safely using appropriate PPE and keeping working areas free from obstruction / hazards.
Ensure any equipment provided is cleaned regularly and stored correctly.
Always treat clients with respect and dignity.

Attend any training deemed relevant to your role and attend regular supervision sessions.

Highly motivated with the ability to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
Full clean driving licence required.
Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with colleagues and partners at all organisational levels.
Good IT skills with understanding of how to use internet, email and Zoom.
Ability to manage a full and varied workload effectively and remain calm under pressure.
Able to work with a flexible attitude on own initiative within professional boundaries.
